Hansen makes third straight trip, West Fork boys just miss state field

CEDAR FALLS – Jacob Hansen had a battle on his hands to decide the Class 1A district championship last week.
The West Fork junior finished runner-up to Dunkerton’s Jordan Yessak to earn his third state meet field where he has medaled both times.
“I was trying to stay up front, position myself,” Hansen explained of the back-and-forth race he had with Yessak. “Like coach (Mark Twedt) said, we’re not really peaked for districts. We usually never are. It’s shown in the past where state is the one race where we usually peak. Especially last year, how (Class 1A state champion) Peyton (Twedt) did...."
