Hansell election most exciting of smaller county communities

There's big drama in little Hansell following the Nov. 5 election for mayor and city council.

     The tiny community three miles east of Hampton has a big share of the election-night drama from Nov. 5, as a tie between two city council candidates has created a conundrum for the possible winner of the mayor's race – which was between two write-ins.

     The Hansell mayor's race did not have any official candidates and was between two write-in candidates.

     Write-in Jason Harper - who also was running for re-election as a Hansell city council member - defeated fellow write-in candidate Doug Symens by a 15-9 margin.

     On the Hansell City Council, the drama deepened as four candidates were elected for the five seats. However, two candidates were tied for the fifth and final seat.
