Hampton woman shaves head during Coaches vs. Cancer

Despite a huge crowd and packed rows of bleachers, you could hear a pin drop Saturday afternoon inside the West Fork High School gymnasium.
     Fans trained their eyes on center court in between varsity basketball games to watch Heather Holm receive a new hairdo. The Hampton woman shaved her head to raise awareness for cancer patients, earning more than $2,500 dollars for future medical research in the process.
     Holm held back tears as her brown locks fell to the gym floor.
     “I was thinking of my family and friends who’ve battled cancer. It was emotional,” she said. “I had the option to have it off all at once, but theirs falls out in little pieces. That was emotional for me when I started thinking about it.”
