Hampton survivor shares her story for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Bonnie Lettow had been meticulous about getting an annual mammogram for 14 years. Last year, she got the result she hoped would never come.
     Lettow, the Franklin General Hospital staff accountant, underwent the screening every February in Mason City where she worked prior to FGH. For Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October of 2013, the FGH radiology department pushed to get 50 women to schedule mammograms there.
     She had worked at FGH for just a few weeks, and the thought of having a mammogram done by someone she knew was uncomfortable. She reluctantly scheduled one for February and put it out of her mind.
