Hampton receives Main Street Iowa recertification

Hampton was  recertified as a Main Street Iowa Community last week during an annual visit from state officials, marking the 23rd-straight year the city earned accreditation.

Hampton has participated in Main Street Iowa since 1991. The program assists its member communities with economic development and provides other resources to help foster growth in the small business sector. Because Main Street Iowa is a copyrighted brand, each of the program’s 52 member cities in Iowa must be evaluated and accredited by state officials each year to ensure they’re adhering to a list of certified standards.

“It’s merely an opportunity for us to say of all the things going on, here are some specific areas where some highlights should be made,” said Michael Wagler, state coordinator of Main Street Iowa. “We’re happy to say Hampton earned accreditation this year, and we don’t always get to say that for some towns. They worked hard for it.”
