Residents from throughout Franklin County showed up in force to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Hampton Public Library last week. Two big events on Tuesday and Wednesday highlighted the celebration, which was held in conjunction with National Library Week.

According to library Director Kim Manning, the events were well-attended by visitors of all ages.

“It went really good,” she said on Wednesday. “This was wonderful.”

The party got started on Tuesday night with the Library Drama Club’s performance of their annual Puppet Play. First, second and third graders put on two shows for visitors, which included adaptations of the childrens’ books “Axle Annie and the Speed Grump,” and “Book! Book! Book!”
