Hampton-Dumont High School students place third in Restaurant Management Championships

     Students from the Hampton-Dumont High School ProStart 1 and 2 classes went out of the kitchen and into the restaurant business at the 2017 Iowa ProStart Invitational Restaurant Management Championships, getting a taste of their first victory.
     The team of five students competed in both culinary and managerial competitions, placing third in the managerial competition. Groups were given a task pre-competition to create a business and management plan for an original concept.
     The group’s concept, Violet’s, was a food truck-style operation, except the establishment was a double-decker bus, retrofitted for fine dining, that would take restaurateurs on a two-hour tour, while providing a three course meal for $79 per person.
