Hampton council discusses Progress Park cameras; off-street parking

The Hampton City Council agreed to move forward with the purchase of security cameras for Progress Park and the aquatic center at their workshop Monday night.

No action was taken, but the council directed Jeff Christiansen of COMPANY NAME to gather more information on price estimates so they can approve a purchase at Thursday’s meeting. The City of Hampton received a grant from the Franklin County Community Foundation for $5,000 this year for the installation of security cameras at the park, and the council felt it was necessary to move on the purchase soon to get a good deal on quality equipment.

The city must match 20 percent of the grant, which equates to $1,000.

“I’m ready to order something Thursday, because if we don’t do it we won’t get this price,” said Mayor Brook Boehmler. “This is a go or no go based on this price.”
