Hampton considers stricter nuisance ordinance

The Hampton City Council went over residential development, ordinance updates and potential new fees during their regular workshop Monday night.

Karen Mitchell with Franklin County Development updated the council about a development project from KL Holdings.

KL Holdings is working on developing a 26-unit apartment complex built on the Gazebo Park corner and has asked the city to consider tax abatements or rebates to help move the project along. Not only would a tax break for the development provide its own financial benefits, the city's support would assist KL Holdings with applying for additional grants to fund the project.

Mitchell asked for an official letter of support from the city, but indicated to the council that just knowing the city is considering involvement in the project would be enough to apply for the grant.
