STORY CITY – Making a big step in the post-season, the Hampton-Dumont baseball team earned a huge 13-3 win in five innings over South Hamilton in the Class 2A District 13 semifinal.
The Bulldogs overcame a couple of uncharacteristic errors and did what they have all season long, which is hit the ball, to advance to the district final against Roland-Story on Saturday, July 18 in Story City.
H-D surpassed the school record for most team hits in a season during the game with 295, surpassing 2005’s total of 290. It also moved into second place for a season win total with 21 behind the 2010 team (25).
