HAMPTON – One night before the Hampton-Dumont softball team was to honor its seniors, one of the only two remaining on the team, Macy Scheideman, suffered a horrible season-ending injury.
Needless to say, it was an emotional night as she and fellow senior Charlie Myers were recognized prior to this non-conference game against Aplington-Parkersburg on Tuesday, June 28.
“It was really hard having one of my closest friends crutching out there next to me,” Myers said, “because she was the last girl in my grade that I’ll ever get to play with. I get choked up thinking about it, but she’s the last one in my grade level I’ll ever play with and I’ll remember that forever. I honestly will.”
