H-D’s Logan Chipp sole local wrestler moving on to 2A district

CHARLES CITY – Hampton-Dumont will advance only one of its wrestlers, 182-pounder Logan Chipp, to the Class 2A District wrestling tournament this Saturday at Aplington-Parkersburg.
After a brutal 2A sectional at Charles City on Saturday, Feb. 6, in which 16 wrestlers were ranked, including three at 138 pounds, and where only two wrestlers can move on provided for a heartbreaking end to the all-time winning wrestler in Bulldog school history.
In fact, on the same day that 138-pounder Carter Barkema set the school record for career wins with No. 142 in a nine-second fall, barring illness or injury to the sectional champion or runner-up, the senior ended his career by finishing third.
“There were three very tough wrestlers and one was not going to have the ability to move on,” H-D coach Nick Bretz said....
