Grotzinger tabbed as chamber of commerce executive director

The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce has a new leader, Hampton resident Newton Grotzinger.

Megan Rosenberg, president of the Greater  Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, said Grotzinger was offered the job of executive director on Sept. 13 and that he accepted the offer the same day.

"We interviewed him, then offered him the job," Rosenberg said. "I think he had a real desire to get involved in the local community. He had some new ideas about marketing and programming that were exciting."

Rosenberg said the hiring committee invited eight applicants to an initial interview session. Those eight applicants were cut down to three applicants – including Grotzinger. Of the final three, two of the candidates withdrew and Grotzinger was offered the job.
