The Franklin Rural Electric Cooperative’s community solar project is continuing on, as crews from One Source Solar were out Monday morning installing steel rackings to support the REC’s anticipated solar array.
The community solar project will consist of 508 340 watt module solar panels, when complete. FREC General Manager Becky Bradburn said that the project is the result of lower prices on solar panels (approximately $2 per watt as compared to 2007’s approximate $7.50 per watt), and venturing in to more renewable resources of energy.
“This gives an opportunity for folks who couldn’t afford solar at home, so they can participate at a level they want to,” Bradburn said.
