Franklin General Hospital celebrates 100 years

Centennial birthday party honors institution’s history, future
 
     A year went into planning one of Franklin County’s biggest birthday parties, and it paid off Sunday afternoon.
     People filled the Franklin General Hospital lawn to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the hospital’s original dedication.
     What began in 1915 as Hampton Lutheran Hospital in the thriving railroad town quickly grew and later became Franklin General Hospital in 1963. Staff moved patients and equipment from downtown to the current building in 1971.
     A collaboration of doctors and church leaders founded the hospital.
