Franklin County was well-represented at the 2013 Iowa State Fair, as dozens of children exhibited everything from farm animals to craft projects and others – like Franklin County Fair Queen Haley Hansen – got to show Iowa – and visitors from all over the world – their talents.

Hansen – who won the Franklin County Fair Queen title at the local fair in July – was one of 102 queens at the state fair representing county fairs and agricultural celebrations held across the state.

Hansen went to Des Moines to take part in the traditional State Fair queen activities from Aug. 6 through Aug. 10, with the festivities being capped off on Saturday, Aug. 10 with the coronation of the State Fair queen.

Hansen said the experience was a great one, where she met new friends, reconnected with old ones, and got to experience one of the greatest state fairs in the country.

"We were in the state fair parade, then we went to the Iowa Hall of Fame," Hansen said. "At the fair, we just walked around."
