Franklin County dips in population

     Franklin County and its four neighbors all lost population over the past year, according to a report released March 24 by the U.S. Census Bureau.
     Estimates show that Franklin County dropped 128 residents from July 2014 to July 2015. Overall, the county’s population has declined by 385 residents since the 2010 Census, a drop of 3.6 percent.
     Franklin County’s population ranked 72nd among Iowa’s 99 counties, up one spot from the previous year. Cerro Gordo County ranked 13th, Hardin County was 42nd, Butler County was 53rd and Wright County was 59th.
