The memory of an ornery pony is the inspiration behind a Franklin County native’s newest book.
Myron Williams, who spent the early years of his life on his family farm on the Franklin-Hardin County line, recently released “Cornfield Chronicles: Featuring Snowball, Pony From Hell.” The book features 29 short stories from his life on his mother’s family farm near Iowa Falls, where he and his family moved when he was two years old.
At the center of his book is the tale of Snowball, a stubborn Shetland pony that took joy in bucking Williams from its back. His adventures also include 28 other stories ranging from memories with friends, encounters with wild animals near the Iowa River and learning how to drive a tractor.
Williams said his book is accessible to small town readers, as it’s a “folksy, nostalgic” recollection of life on the farm.
