Four Warhawks earn TIC all-conference

MASON CITY – The NIACC cross country course certainly is more to Zach Martinek’s taste.
The West Fork junior was the top finisher for the Warhawks to earn Top of Iowa East Conference honors. He was 13th overall in team scoring, but fifth across the line among TIC East varsity boys in 18 minutes, 37 seconds.
“This is obviously one of the better races I’ve run all year,” Martinek said. “I started a little slow, but I started moving up in the second or third mile. The first mile was great.
“I honestly couldn’t tell you; conference is a bigger meet and come out and try my best.”
