DES MOINES – After being passed at the last moment in the 3,000, AGWSR’s Aubrie Fisher was resolved not to let that happen again in the 1,500.
The Cougars’ sophomore kicked it in during the final lap of her final race of the year during the Class 1A state track and field meet and finished second only to East Mills’ Janette Schraft by just more than a second.
“I kind of thought about the 3,000 and how I got passed in the last 2- or 300 meters and I didn’t want that to happen again because I'd been second for a little bit and that girl came out of nowhere and so I just didn't want to let her beat me,” Fisher said, “so I caught up to her and got second.”
The entire story appears in the May 24 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
