FC investigating merger with western Iowa cooperative

A regional farmers cooperative last week moved one step closer to joining forces with another large Iowa company.
     The board of directors of Ames-based Farmers Cooperative Company (FC) signed a letter of intent to study the membership benefits of unifying with West Central Cooperative. According to a news release, the letter of intent allows the companies to explore equity, governance, organizational structure, asset investment and other member-focused efficiencies.
     Locally, FC has locations in Hampton, Bradford, Latimer, Aredale and Ackley in addition to multiple Butler County offices.
