Frenetic shopping with the slightest semblance to the hectic nature of Black Friday is just one aspect of a heartfelt Franklin County Farm Bureau tradition.
Last Thursday, Farm Bureau hosted its annual Breakfast Battle at Fareway in Hampton. The event challenges representatives from ten area businesses and organizations to rush around the store and collect items to make a meal according to a recipe. Teams of three must gather the goods as quickly as they can while sticking as close to $45 to $50 as possible.
Before the race began, teams answered agriculture related trivia questions to gain a time advantage.
Following the event, the meals were then donated to ten families that utilize the Franklin County Food Pantry, Zion-St. John Lutheran Food Pantry in Sheffield and the Immanuel UCC Food Pantry in Latimer.
