Fannie Mae Rover, 93

Fannie Mae Rover, 93, of Hampton, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton. Burial will take place in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery – North Vilmar in rural Greene. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Fannie Mae and her family.

Fannie Mae was born May 12, 1929, at German Township in Grundy County, Iowa, daughter of George and Anne (Buenting) Flessner. She graduated from Greene High School. On October 12, 1947, Fannie Mae was united in marriage to Donald John Rover in Nora Springs. To this union, four children were born.

She worked as a school food service kitchen manager for many years. Fannie Mae was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton, where she was also active in the church circle. She was a member of a 500 card club and quilting group, the Northern Iowa Happy Sams Camping group and volunteered at county, state and federal elections.

Fannie Mae was very family-oriented. Her children and grandchildren were so important to her, never missing an activity they were involved in. She also enjoyed spending winters in Texas with Don for many years.

Fannie Mae is survived by her son Gary Rover of Klamath Falls, Oregon; daughter Debra Rover of Jacksonville, Florida; son Craig (Diane) Rover of Ames, Iowa; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Betty Rover of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Rover, son Wayne Rover, siblings Arnold Flessner, Eileen Ender, Henry Flessner, Joann Feltz and George Flessner.
