The Franklin County Fair Board announced plans for a major capital improvement project during their 31st annual dinner and dance on Saturday, March 17.
The fair board invited sponsors out for an evening of dinner and dancing to show their appreciation for their support as they prepare for another year of events. Guests enjoyed a beef loin dinner prepared by board members, followed up with St. Patrick's Day themed cupcakes and an evening of dancing.
"It's kind of the kick-off for this year's fair," said fair board president Jon Baltes.
In between the dinner and dancing, the fair board made their big announcement: plans to start fundraising for a series of major improvements to the fairgrounds.
Set out into three phases, the long-range capital improvement plan will begin with the renovation of the Franklin County Convention Center. The $1.2 million project will give the building an interior renovation and an exterior facelift.
