Early miscues made up for by persistence in H-D regional victory

HAMPTON – It was an adventure in the outfield for Macy Scheideman in the Hampton-Dumont Class 3A regional softball game against South Hardin on Wednesday, July 8.
Scheideman admitted that she felt like crying after making some drops that allowed the Tigers (6-17, final) to take a 6-3 lead in the third inning.
“Going into the game we always say, ‘nothing drops in the outfield,’” Scheideman said, “and obviously in the third inning, they hit the ball hard, I’m going to give it to them, but I made mental errors and I didn’t do what I needed to get those outs when we really needed them.
“So, coming off that I felt like I disappointed my team and…I didn’t want to disappoint my team..."
