Drake to Hampton, Larson clears hurdles

HAMPTON – It was a long day for Austin Larson to complete a pair of races in under 30 seconds.
The West Fork hurdler competed at 8:15 a.m. in the preliminaries of the 110-meter high hurdles at the Drake Relays and then came back to compete in a competitive 110 highs race with three more of the most competitive hurdlers in North Iowa.
He ran 15.42 at Drake to finished 17th out of 32 competitors and miss the finals by .40 of a second.
Larson ran against Josef Smith of West Hancock, Grant Fjelstad of Lake Mills and Hampton-Dumont’s Riley Flint in the second and fastest heat, running to 14.89 and the win.
