Delina was born on December 30, 1942, in Webster City, Iowa to George and Violet (Bentley) Garth. After graduation from Sheffield High School, she worked at a telephone company in Webster City. On September 27, 1964, Delina was united in marriage to Lyle Etnier in the Webster City Church of Christ.

Delina and Lyle lived on a farm near Sheffield and later moved to the farm where Delina originally was raised that became the family home. Delina was a hard worker and enjoyed living on the farm with their family of six children, cooking delicious meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, lunch, supper, and lunch), raising chickens, helping with farming and working in her huge garden, which allowed her to do a lot of canning.

Everyone who knew Delina felt her kind heart and her contagious smile. Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted her personality. She would always make you feel welcomed., and you rarely saw Delina angry, sad, or depressed. She would find the silver lining and keep pushing forward. She was one of select few who could rise to meet challenges with a smile.

At family reunions and gatherings, Delina was known for her famous fried chicken and noodle corn casserole. She always enjoyed family gatherings, a time when she was grateful to have her home filled with all her loved ones. No gathering would pass without multiple card games such as Chase the Ace, Hand and Foot, Garbage, and anything else that could be played as a family.

Delina is survived by her husband Lyle of Rockwell, daughters Tammy (Mike) Christianson of Alexandria, Minnesota, Vicki (Jim) Tuttle of Sheffield, Penny (Lance) Teisinger of Dunkerton, Marilyn (Shane) Krukow of Iowa Falls and Deb (Lonnie) Barkema of Sheffield, son Lon (Rachael) Etnier of Sheffield, brother Larry Garth of Spirit Lake, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gaylord Garth.
