Council delays surveillance camera purchase

The purchase of surveillance equipment at Progress Park was delayed until May following a development at the Hampton City Council meeting last Thursday.

     Jeff Christiansen from Advanced Tech Solutions, Inc., gave an update about ongoing plans to install a security camera system at the park. The council had orginally intended to purchase a surveillance system for the area at a discounted rate on Thursday, but Christiansen said a rushed decision wasn’t necessary. He has a system in stock that will cost less and provide better service than the one the council had initially planned to buy.

     “It’s a little bit better and has more memory than the machine we were looking at, and also has a better processor,” he said.
