ACKLEY – After a frustrating 0-3 start and a host of early season injuries, AGWSR appeared to regain some of its old swagger with a 53-0 thrashing of BCLUW as the Cougars’ ground attack ran all over the Comets during Friday night’s homecoming game in Ackley.
“We pretty well controlled the ball,” said AGWSR coach Skip Eckhardt. “The guys blocked well and ran hard, and the defense tackled and played really well.”
The Cougars began their first drive of the night with great field position at their own 43-yard line, and despite a pair of fumbles – both of which AGWSR recovered – they eventually found their way into the end zone when senior running back Levi Stockdale took a toss and scampered 22 yards up the middle for a touchdown with 9 minutes, six seconds to play in the opening frame.
