Concerns raised about '101' project during special meeting

Developers of a downtown housing project fielded tough questions from a skeptical crowd during a special Hampton Board of Adjustment meeting on Jan. 28.
     Local residents packed City Hall for a public hearing regarding a conditional use permit for KL Holdings LLC. Business owners Landon Plagge and Kyle Pralle applied for the permit to build a 26-unit apartment complex in downtown Hampton, but a last-minute change led them to withdraw their application.
     The two men altered the building’s design to include 3,000 square feet of commercial space on the first floor. The change brought the building into compliance with downtown zoning codes and negated any need for a conditional use permit.
