In a cooperative effort to make effective use of Hampton’s pre-existing parks, trails and streetscapes, the Chamber of Greater Franklin County —in conjunction with the city of Hampton — several state agencies and community members have assembled a comprehensive design plan.
The effort is part of the Iowa Living Roadways Program for summer 2016, sponsored by the Iowa Department of Transportation, the Department of Landscape Architecture, ISU Extension Community and Economic Development and the non-profit Trees Forever organization. Under the umbrella of Community Vision, the program combines empowered communities to create landscape planning and designs with sustainable design methods.
In September 2015, the Chamber of Greater Franklin County in conjunction with Chair Person of the project Sue Wulf, applied and received a grant to allow ISU landscape architects and its extension for community and economic development to begin organizing a steering committee that evaluated the overall needs and wants of the Hampton community.
