Earlier this month, parents Tim and Karen Brown and Carter and Kelly Otters, of fifth grade student Emersyn Brown, were given difficult news. Brown, 10, has been diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and is currently at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester to receive treatment.
B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common form of cancer in children, and targets the immune system, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The communities of West Fork School District have come together to support the Brown family; a fundraiser will be hosted on April 7 in Rockwell to financially assist Brown's battle. Rockwell Catholic Church Parish Hall will host the benefit from 4-7 p.m., and all money will go to support the family.
Each grade at West Fork will contribute to the fundraiser with a handmade basket. The benefit will hold a silent auction, live auction, and bake sale.
