One of the area’s most heartfelt traditions returns to Hampton next weekend.
Saturday, Jan. 19 marks the annual Coaches vs. Cancer day of basketball between Hampton-Dumont-CAL and West Fork.
Basketball begins at 11 a.m. with ninth grade boys’ basketball. The junior varsity girls team will play at 12:15 p.m. with the boys’ junior varsity at 1:30 p.m. The girls’ varsity contest tips off at 3 p.m.
Before the boys’ varsity game begins, the crowd will take break from basketball for the cheerleaders’ bucket run. For 48 seconds, a second for each Iowan diagnosed with cancer every day, cheerleaders will run into the crowd to collect change. Basketball wraps up with the boys’ varsity game at 4:30 p.m.
