CLARKSVILLE – Clarksville head baseball coach Zach Bergman is hoping that a second close game against a CAL team that is better than it has been in more than 10 years will aid the Indians in the Class 1A district tourney.
The home team got out to an early lead, withstood a Cadet rally and then got a late run to earn the 4-2 victory on Friday, June 30.
Both times this season, the Indians won close contests against CAL.
“We played CAL close,” Bergman said. “Last year, we didn’t get these close wins and gave it up a lot, so it’s nice to learn how to win the close, especially in close games.”
