Class 1A No. 14 AGWSR overcomes early North Butler lead in regional

ACKLEY – AGWSR coach Laurie Gann knew she was going to get North Butler’s best shot.
She told her players not to be surprised if they were down early, possibly even at half, and they were down until mid-way through the second quarter.
But her Cougars were just too good in the end in taking a 55-30 Class 1A regional opening win over North Butler on Thursday, Feb. 9.
“We’ve got to weather the storm,” Gann said of talking to her players before the game. “They are going to bring their best, we’re going to weather through it and we’re going to stick to our game plan and I literally predicted that: the score might be close at half and they might even be ahead..."
