Enjoy a tradition
The Iowa State Fair is one of those unique traditions which transcends the state. This weekend will bring the culmination of this year’s version of the Iowa State Fair. The fair features loads of interesting options for any possible patron to find something to do, whether its touring the livestock barns, the varied industry buildings, catching a show at the Bill Riley Talent Show Stage, or paying a visit to the Butter Cow.
There are very few traditions which last for generations like the Iowa State Fair, so if you can spare a few hours this week, take the trip to Des Moines and enjoy a taste of Iowa.

School is about to begin
By this time next week, students throughout Franklin County will begin to return to school. As that time approaches, let’s a take a moment to remind ourselves to pay extra attention to the kids who may be crossing the street on their way to school, the busses who are picking up and dropping off students as they return to the classroom. The importance of education is key, let’s not take the chance and begin the year with a black mark. Let’s all remember to take a deep breath, slow down, watch both ways, and keep an eye out for the children as they head off to school.
