LATIMER – Fabi Gutierrez knew the first season on the CAL/Hampton-Dumont/Belmond-Klemme girls soccer season would be tough.
The Hampton-Dumont junior also knew that the Cadets needed numbers this year, so she went out of her way to recruit more team members.
“I told them how fun soccer was last year,” Gutierrez said of her efforts, “and that they should do it. I got a lot (to come out), like six or seven (from Hampton-Dumont).”
For Gutierrez, who started playing soccer three years ago, didn’t have a particular starting point for the game and wanted to try something new.
