U.S. News and World Report recently named CAL High School to its annual list of best schools in the country following a review of 2013 student achievement data.

CAL was one of 71 schools in Iowa to receive bronze medal recognition from the news website. The report analyzes data from standardized tests and also includes other factors into the final publication, which included 21,035 public schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia. In Iowa, data was collected from 151,062 students in 357 high schools.

Twenty-one Iowa schools received silver medal honors in addition to the 71 bronze recipients.

“It’s just kind of nice to get recognition on the state level with other quality schools,” said CAL High School Principal Scott Striegel.
