CAL board OKs football sharing agreement with C-G-D

     There will be no change in scenery or uniform when CAL football players take the field next fall for the 2016 season.
     The board of education voted unanimously Nov. 18 to share football with Clarion-Goldfield-Dows for the next two years. The decision came following an extensive vetting process that saw three neighboring districts submit proposals in hopes of wooing CAL into a two-year partnership. The school, which shared football with C-G-D this fall, was forced to explore its options before the next redistricting cycle due to low participation numbers at the high school level.
     Board members appreciated each offer from Hampton-Dumont, Belmond-Klemme and C-G-D, but they felt the latter’s proposal would best suit the needs and expectations of CAL student-athletes.
