The CAL Board of Education heard a proposal to set up a “sick bank” for teachers to use in the event that his or her personal and sick time was maxed out, and time off was needed in an emergency.
The board was presented a proposal to set up such a system that would allow the teachers at CAL to contribute their own accrued time off into the bank for a teacher in the district that has maxed out their days and is in medical need of extended time off.
The board approved of a personal time donation system with the exact language to be figured out at a later date. The current proposal however states that teachers can donate more than one but only up to 10 days of their own accrued time off to be put into a sick bank. The bank would then keep the sick days and they would not be returned to the employee.
