CAL board decides on JH athletics

     The CAL Board of Education voted to continue sharing junior high athletics with Hampton-Dumont during its meeting Monday night.
     The decision came following extensive debate and deliberation over the future of junior high athletics. Since CAL shares varsity football and cross country with Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, some board members and administrators believed it would be conducive to share all junior high sports with C-G-D to build a cohesive athletic program. However, board members ultimately voted unanimously to stay with H-D due to transportation costs and other reasons.
     Much of the debate centered on travel time. Clarion is twice as far away as Hampton, which concerned some parents and board members.
