Burn, baby, burn: Controlled fire rids Hampton of eyesore

     A house in Hampton was reduced to smoldering ruins early last week after a raging inferno engulfed the structure, rendering it a complete loss.

     However, it was all part of the plan.

     The Hampton Fire Department held a controlled burn at a house owned by Robert Bohr located at 221 1st Ave. SW on July 28. Bohr, who lives at a neighboring property, purchased the vacant house with the intention of demolishing it and developing the property for his own use.

     Bohr paid for the controlled burn and did a majority of the legwork leading up to the fire.
