Bulldogs take 3 three-time state qualifiers to the Well

WEBSTER CITY – Kendrick Suntken knows his way around Wells Fargo Arena.
As do his Hampton-Dumont wrestling teammates Carter Barkema and Mario Peña.
The trio will be making a three-peat at the Class 2A state wrestling meet in Des Moines beginning Thursday, Feb. 19.
“Two of them (Suntken and Peña) are in the same class, so they’ve been together a long time, play football, are in track, in three sports together,” H-D coach Nick Bretz said. “Carter plays baseball, and maybe it’s not as much there, but wrestling, they share that bond. It’s a hard work bond: ‘you got through it, so did I.’”
