HAMPTON – It was too much for Maci Arjes to hold in.
Back on Thursday, Jan. 26, she had just learned the diagnosis that her twin sister, Kaci, was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, HCM for short, a heart condition that will keep her from playing basketball this season, possibly forever.
After that game against Fort Dodge St. Edmond, she was openly crying instead of celebrating after the Bulldogs had just beaten the Gaels to win their seventh game in a row.
“It was too much,” Maci Arjes said. “I couldn’t contain my emotions.”
The entire story appears in the Feb. 8 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
