HAMPTON – So much to get over.
The Hampton-Dumont’s boys’ track & field team had to overcome a few stumbles, drops and barriers in its way, but managed to do so in a fifth-place finish with 74 points at its own meet on Monday, April 20.
One of the biggest moments was junior Evan Koenen’s return to competition.
Six months ago, Koenen was carted off of the field with a broken ankle and torn ligaments in the Bulldogs’ playoff game against Dyersville Beckman. During the meet, he ran his first race of the season – the 100-meter dash, no less – and finished fourth in 12.38 seconds.
More on this story will be found in the April 29 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
