Bulldogs go 3-0, get fastest pin, win by criteria

CLARKSVILLE – So much action packed into one night.

Hampton-Dumont’s wrestling team took on a new quadrangular with a team in its “backyard” at Clarksville on Tuesday, Dec. 8, making for a remarkable evening with a 3-0 record.

The Bulldogs had to win the opener over Wapsie Valley by Criteria H, when two teams tie and have the same number of pins and forfeits, going down to most first takedowns in all matches. That criteria is a rare occurrence.

“We weren’t ready to wrestle,” H-D head coach Nick Bretz said. “We came out late for warm-up and we weren’t ready to mentally be there. There were a couple of those kids came out and slapped us in the mouth and we had to wake up...."
