HAMPTON – It took five lead changes before the Class 2A No. 9 Hampton-Dumont baseball team ended its three-game losing streak, 11-10, against Janesville on Tuesday, June 16.
The Bulldogs started the season 10-0 and then went 0-2 at the very competitive Carroll Tournament over the weekend.
And coach Matt Lokenvitz’s team turned around and faced Class 2A No. 2 Clear Lake on the road, leading 1-0 as late as the sixth inning before dropping its third in a row.
Despite some back-and-forth against Janesville, a team that advanced to the Class 1A sub-state final a year ago, H-D emerged with the victory.
