Bulldogs begin new era with win over rival IF-A

HAMPTON – Coleton Barz stepped into the starting quarterback position for the first time with plenty of weapons and a formidable offensive line.
Yet for all of the offensive ability Hampton-Dumont’s football team has, it may have been the defense that turned a close 12-9 score into a 45-15 rout over neighboring non-district foe Iowa Falls-Alden.
“They kept it close,” H-D head coach Jerry Shafrath said. “In the first half, they held us to a field goal (on the first drive) and we missed it, which kind of surprised me because we’ve been pretty decent in field goals in practice, but you know, with the wet surface, it’s a tough go...."
