Bulldog rally comes up short to end season at Roland-Story

STORY CITY – It would have been easy for the Hampton-Dumont baseball team to hang it up trailing 10-0 after three innings in the Class 2A District 13 title baseball game on Saturday, July 18.
But not these Bulldogs.
They did what they have done a lot this season, come with a tremendous eight-run rally. But this time, H-D fell short to put an end to an outstanding season in a three-hour-plus marathon 18-11 game against Roland-Story.
“When you spot them 10 runs right away, down 10-0 in the third inning, it’s like, ‘woah!’ A slap in the face a little bit,” Bulldog coach Matt Lokenvitz said. ...
