Be Election Day Ready!

By:
Katy Flint
Franklin County Auditor

Election Day is almost here.  November 4th is the date for the 2025 City-School Election, and I have some information to share with you to make sure you are ready!

First, if you can’t vote on Election Day, I strongly encourage you to stop by the Auditor’s Office on a weekday from 8AM-4PM to cast an absentee ballot.  We will also be open until 5PM on Friday October 31st for absentee voting!  It’s quick and easy way to have your voice heard.

Now, on to Election Day.  First, remember to take your driver’s license or other approved government issued ID’s (this includes: Voter ID PIN Card, US Veterans ID, US Passport, Iowa Non-Operator ID, Tribal ID, or US Military ID) to the polls with you.  If you don’t have one have of these, call our office immediately so we can help you plan for Election Day.

Everyone will vote at the same spot you voted last November (unless you’ve moved of course).  If you aren’t sure where to vote, visit our elections webpage for assistance (https://elections.franklincountyia.gov) or give our office a call! Polls are open 7AM-8PM across the county.

Is your voter registration up to date?  Have you moved or gotten married?  Keep in mind that if you need to change your voter registration at the polls, you will need to provide not only proof of ID, but also proof of residency.  This can be a utility bill, rental lease, bank statement, paycheck, etc if it is current, and has your name and your address on it.

Finally, while we don’t typically experience lines in Franklin County, I ask you to be patient and kind to the poll workers.  It is a long day and they are really trying to do everything correctly and get everyone through the process.

If you have questions about Election Day or anything else regarding elections, do not hesitate to reach out to our office at any time.  Until next time…
